Wondering About Widgets

Page history last edited by susan 2 yrs ago

I've been wondering about Widgets... so I started by creating a VOKI

AC_Voki_Embed(200,267, 'e53ab9a556c8972e46f81744de5ec386', 16675, 1, '', 0);
Get a Voki now!

I don't love my fake voice, but this has interesting potential.  I can see Lisa and I uploading our individual Vokis on the main page of our website.  :)

What other widgets do you think have potential in/on school websites?

http://del.icio.us/LisaParisi/Widgets - the second link on the delicious page has reasons for adding widgets to blogs

Elementary/Middle School

Talkr turns your text posts into mp3s which can be subscribed to via RSS - could be excellent for a story blog.  To demonstrate I'm adding the feed button from my blog - if you click on it you will be taken to a page including the text feeds and corresponding mp3s.

 VoiceThread definitely - I think it has amazing potential for a variety of activities - the one I have embedded here was  intended to help my EFL students communicate with a class in the USA - by providing a model of simple sentences which the children could practice, and eventually make their own and record.  In the end we didn't have time to use it, so some of my 6 graders took over the cover page in order to communicate with the developer's daughter. - (I also have a voki and much prefer her voice to my own :-)  )

I know Ginger uses YackPack on her page. Do you like it Ginger?

I know this question wasn't aimed at me but here are my 2 cents, I have tried using the YackPack walkie talkie on various occasions, when according to the number in the corner there were more than 2 people on the page - as of yet I have had NO success.

I was afraid to use it originally and I was probably the 2nd person in the room - LOL. Now I want to play with it so I'm not afraid anymore. :)

I can't upload the application on my classroom 2.0 page? Any suggestions?
